Mist [Unlimited] Chapter 87: Ning University Kindergarten

Mist: Chapter 87

Ning University Kindergarten

Song Qinglan was about to let Ji Yushi make the decision.

However, Ji Yushi was the type who rarely went out, and his knowledge of fun places in Ningcheng was about the same as Song Qinglan’s. He really couldn’t recommend anything to her. After discussing several plans, he even thought it might be better to just spend the holiday at home.

“This is a date,” Song Qinglan said confidently. “Since it’s a date, just staying at home won’t cut it. When we get back to the team, I need to share some romantic experiences from our holiday with those single guys. Otherwise, how will they have any motivation to find someone?”

Her reasoning was grandiose, and Ji Yushi rarely showed a confused expression. “But I really don’t know where to go. Dinner, a movie, and a walk in the park?”

The typical trio for a couple’s date?

Song Qinglan pulled him up from the carpet. “Let’s go to the amusement park.”

Ji Yushi’s eyes widened. “Amusement park?!”

Song Qinglan turned him around and pushed him toward the room, making him face the wardrobe as she spoke. “Yes, the amusement park.”

Amusement parks are the quintessential dating strategy from school days.

Ji Yushi hadn’t expected Song Qinglan to go for this, thinking it didn’t quite fit her usual image. He could only tell himself that she still had a youthful spirit.

As a qualified boyfriend, Ji Yushi went along with this plan.

Both of them changed into clean clothes and got themselves ready before heading out.

To avoid looking too out of place at the amusement park, Ji Yushi kept his simple T-shirt from the morning but swapped his shorts for jeans and paired them with sneakers. His slim figure and upright posture made him stand out, looking more like an outstanding student in college rather than just another guy.

Song Qinglan’s clothes from the day before had already been washed and dried, and they weren’t too formal either.

Standing in the elevator, seeing each other’s reflections in the mirror, they finally felt a bit of the reality that they were going out on a date during the holiday.

Ji Yushi: “Does this feel a little weird?”

Song Qinglan glanced at him through the mirror. “What’s weird? Don’t adults have the right to seek some excitement and relaxation?”

Ji Yushi: “…”

Song Qinglan continued looking at Ji Yushi’s reflection in the mirror, tilting his head as he said, “You can pretend I’m still a kid.”

“If you could go back to how you were in Chaos, I might try. But at 1.92 meters…” Ji Yushi said calmly, “That’s one big kid.”

A young Song Qinglan with a tender face and a soft voice.

He was small, with sleeves that almost dragged on the floor, wearing boots several sizes too big, and hurriedly followed behind, carrying the heavy God’s Slayer.

Stubborn and cute.

Thinking of that scene, Ji Yushi couldn’t help but smile, turning his head away so Song Qinglan wouldn’t notice.

When they reached the parking lot, Song Qinglan was fully prepared to be the chauffeur, but despite his height advantage, he couldn’t find Ji Yushi’s black SUV among the sea of car roofs.

Ji Yushi took a few steps and unlocked a nearby sedan. “Here.”

The car had a somewhat retro, elegant design, reminiscent of the 80s or 90s, completely different from the imposing SUV Song Qinglan had seen last time—two extremes.

Song Qinglan circled the car, looking at it with interest. “Where’s the one from last time?”

Ji Yushi’s guns and cars both matched his vibe.

He really liked vintage things.

“There’s no ‘last time’ car. In reality, I’ve always had this one. The bubble world just made a different choice for me.” Ji Yushi tossed him the car keys. “Want to drive? It’s a manual, no automatic driving, tough but thrilling.”

“I’ll drive!” Song Qinglan was more than happy to be the driver, catching the keys and getting into the driver’s seat.

Ji Yushi walked around the car, just sitting in the passenger seat and closing the door when he heard Song Qinglan call his name: “Ji Yushi.”

He turned his head.

And then he was kissed on the lips.

Song Qinglan’s lips lightly brushed against his, gently caressing. “Welcome to the official start of our first date.”

Drop towers, roller coasters, giant swings.

Even on a weekday, the amusement park was packed. After riding three thrilling rides, both of them remained unfazed. When they were on the giant swing, Song Qinglan even calmly took out her phone amid the screams and recorded a video to send to Li Chun.

The sunlight was just right, colorful bubbles floated around the amusement park, and a glimpse of Ji Yushi’s profile appeared briefly on the screen.

Li Chun: [Huh?]

Li Chun: [Captain Song, are you killing us single people?]

Song Qinglan quickly replied: [No, I just wanted to ask how many times you rode the giant swing during the holiday.]

Li Chun: […Actually, I don’t even get sick anymore! I can handle it!]

Song Qinglan ignored his response and typed on her own: [Killing single people is just a secondary goal.]

Li Chun: [Aaaahhhh【suicide.jpg】]

Song Qinglan: [Look at our Consultant Ji, as a civilian worker—]

At this point, the giant swing stopped.

Ji Yushi, who had unbuckled his seatbelt first, called out to him: “Time to get off.”

Song Qinglan immediately turned off her phone, no longer paying attention to Li Chun, and jumped off the steps first when they reached the edge, extending his hand. “Be careful.”

Ji Yushi handed him his hand and also jumped down to the ground.

The other tourists who had ridden the giant swing with them were all pale-faced, looking at them like they were monsters.

After all these rides, Ji Yushi’s face remained unflushed, and his breath steady, as if he had just been on a sightseeing ride.

Song Qinglan thought about changing tactics and let him choose for himself. “What do you want to do next?”

They had spent a lot of time just waiting in line for the earlier rides. Ji Yushi opened his phone, projecting a map and scrolling through it. Most of the rides were marked in red, but a few spots were green, indicating shorter lines.

“How about the haunted house?” Ji Yushi suggested. “There are fewer people there.”

“The haunted house?” Song Qinglan hesitated, looking at the holographic sign and the high-risk warning for the haunted house. “It’s too realistic. Are you sure?”

Others might be able to forget a scare after a while.

But Ji Yushi wouldn’t. For him, the scare experience never fades, so Song Qinglan wasn’t very enthusiastic about it.

“It’s because it’s realistic that we should check it out.” This time, Ji Yushi was the one pulling Song Qinglan forward. “Besides, can it really be scarier than being surrounded by zombies in a convenience store? I want to see if high-tech can actually scare me.”

“Alright.” Song Qinglan agreed.

There was some distance from the giant swing to the haunted house.

They didn’t take the park shuttle but chose to walk.

On the way, Song Qinglan mischievously played a shooting game and easily won a plush toy. Seeing this, Ji Yushi wanted to try too, and also easily won another plush toy. Finding it cumbersome to carry them around, they casually gave them to some kids at a party behind them.

The two quietly did a good deed.

After leaving the shooting gallery, Song Qinglan bought Ji Yushi some cotton candy. “Other kids have it, our Consultant Ji can’t go without.”

Ji Yushi accepted it and took a bite of the pink cotton candy, letting it quickly dissolve into crumbs in his mouth. “This tastes just like I remember.”

Song Qinglan: “You’ve been here before?”

Ji Yushi: “Yeah, the first time was in the autumn when I was eleven. Ji Minyue brought me here. We came three more times after that, and every time we bought this.”

They were already close to the haunted house.

Ji Yushi was already scanning to get in line.

Watching his lighthearted figure, Song Qinglan deeply wondered—could it be that Ji Minyue’s understanding of Ji Yushi was still stuck at some childhood level?

By the time they came out of the haunted house, Song Qinglan was almost certain of it.

Ji Yushi had walked through the entire thing with him, thoroughly exploring the map amidst the visitors’ screams and wails. He even unlocked a hidden level, taking only ten minutes to exit a course that was expected to take an hour, which included the time Ji Yushi spent waiting for the ghost lady to reappear so he could see her again.

This amusement park no longer had any novelty for Ji Yushi.

Song Qinglan could imagine young Ji Yushi searching for thrills here, but unfortunately, he couldn’t turn back time to accompany him.

Perhaps for ordinary couples, just being together makes it a beautiful date.

But their date shouldn’t be like this.

Song Qinglan left for a moment to make a phone call before returning.

Ji Yushi was holding a cup of iced milk tea when he saw him coming back. “Do you want some?”

Song Qinglan, naturally, took a sip from the straw in Ji Yushi’s hand.

This intimate gesture made Ji Yushi’s heart soften. He had actually planned to buy Song Qinglan a cup as well.

After Song Qinglan finished drinking, seeing his expression, he asked, “What’s wrong?”

Ji Yushi replied, “Someone else gave it to me.”

Following his gaze, Song Qinglan saw three girls not far away, who shyly ran off after seeing them look over.

He raised an eyebrow, teasingly said, “I was only gone for a moment, and someone already bought you a drink?”

Ji Yushi nodded. “So I’m quite popular too.”

Song Qinglan laughed. That’s exactly what he was waiting for.

He wondered how much random nonsense this guy kept in his little mental notebook. Taking the milk tea from Ji Yushi’s hand, Song Qinglan asked, “Want to go skydiving?”

Ji Yushi: “Skydiving?”

“One of my comrades opened a skydiving club after retiring,” Song Qinglan said briefly. “It’s not far from Ningcheng. I just called him. If we go now, we can be back by tomorrow morning.”

For the first time in 25 years, Ji Yushi went on such a spontaneous trip.

They left straight from the amusement park, not even going home first, and just called Ji Minyue to ask him to take care of the three cats.

Ji Yushi’s car didn’t have an autopilot mode, so it couldn’t go on the unrestricted highway. They had to take the regular highway to reach the club 500 kilometers away, but that didn’t stop them from wanting to go play. They bought some water and snacks along the way and, if they didn’t stop, would make it in time for the last sunset skydive.

The regular highway passed through Ningcheng’s old town, with a lonely car shadow on the spacious road.

The entire road was theirs to speed on.

From the highway, they could see a cluster of buildings awaiting reconstruction. Against the backdrop of new city skyscrapers and floating train tracks, it had a certain post-apocalyptic aesthetic.

“When I was little, I went to kindergarten in that area,” Song Qinglan pointed out. “Do you see it? The green space next to that red building.”

Ji Yushi nodded.

He also saw the green space among the old buildings, his side profile calm.

Just when Song Qinglan thought he hadn’t heard, Ji Yushi turned and said, “Really? I went to kindergarten there too.”

Song Qinglan: “You’re joking.”

Ji Yushi said, “No, really. Ningda Affiliated Kindergarten.”

Song Qinglan really thought he was joking. “That’s too bad. Why didn’t I pursue you in kindergarten?”
